The agricultural sector has long been an important customer group for Ab Hanson & Möhring, and remains so today. Rock salt and other products were sold to the farmers in western Sweden as early as the 1830s. Since then, we have developed a number of new additives and products, often in close collaboration with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).
Our salt licks are made using the finest, purest rock salt, containing only approved feed additives registered by the Swedish Board of Agriculture. Our Safesil additive generates silage with high nutritional value and hygienic quality, which, in combination with various volumes of concentrated feed, forms the basis for lucrative milk and meat production.
Safesil represents the next generation of intelligent additives used to generate high-grade silage. Many additives are effective for certain crops or certain levels of dry matter content, or simply during insertion and primary fermentation. Safesil additive has a triple-effect which works under all circumstances, that is, up to 50% dry matter content, for all crops and silage methods. Moreover, not only does Safesil ensure high nutritional value but it also creates a silage free from yeast or mould, which the majority of other additives are unable to achieve under all circumstances.
Safesil comprises only approved food additives, potassium sorbate (E202) and sodium benzoate (E211), which occur naturally in many fruits and berries and are extremely effective in counteracting bacteria, yeast and mould, and sodium nitrate (E250), which is vapour active, and above all, effective against bacteria.
Safesil has been comprehensively tested for all different silage crops (maize, legumes, wholecrop and grass) with dry matter (DM) contents from 15 to 50%, resulting in silage that is palatable and rich in nutrients. With a range of application rates depending on crop and harvesting conditions, Safesil silage preservative is suitable for use with different storage systems, including clamps, bags, bales and tower silos.
In addition to its ability to ensure a ‘clean’ lactic fermentation with minimal losses, Safesil is renowned for its powerful action against yeasts and moulds ensuring exceptional aerobic stability in higher dry matter silages that are prone to heating. Scientific and farm trials have shown that forage treated with the correct rate of Safesil can remain cool and palatable for up to ten days after exposure to air. Designed for use when silage-making and/or crop conditions present a challenge to a good, lactic fermentation, Safesil Challenge is ideal for crops ensiled with a dry matter content below around 28%. Ideal when the weather prohibits effective wilting or when there is a risk of soil or slurry/dirty water contamination of the crop, the powerful action of Safesil Challenge destroys the clostridia and enterobacteria that thrive in these conditions. This eliminates the risk of poor fermentation with its associated high nutritional losses and foul-smelling silage. Safesil Challenge is ideal for Big Bale silage, ensuring good fermentation and creating conditions unsuitable for the growth of fungi and listeria. Safesil Challenge is very effective on grass, arable (e.g. legume/cereal mixes) and high-protein forages where the buffering capacity and low dry matter of the crop can result in a high risk of a poor fermentation. Safesil COOLTMR is a preserving additive for use in the mixer-wagon. It counteracts heat flow in the mixer and on the feed table, maintains a high feed intake and minimizes nutritional losses. Available in 12L bucket.
The majority of plant cells contain too little sodium to adequately meet the needs of our farm animals. This is why all farm animals should be fed with salt, both for their own well-being and in order to function and produce under the best possible circumstances.
Our salt licks are manufactured in Sweden using a special high-pressure method which enables sustainable utilisation and resistance against rain. In addition, they only contain approved feeding additives. Our feeding salt comes in a range of fractions and packaging sizes.
Our salt licks are available in 2 kg or 10 kg, without or with additives (minerals, trace elements or vitamins) adapted for different animal species. The salt licks can be used in both conventional and organic production.
Feed salt is either medium-sized (0.16-1.6 mm) or coarse (0.8-3.2 mm) salt. Used primarily for compound feedstuff and in feed machines, for saline salting and can also be used as a bowel salt. Delivered in bulk, big bag (1000 kg), small bag (25 kg) and bucket (8 kg).
For high-performance horses and for compound feedstuff. Natural food grade rock salt. Used as a complement to salt licks for horses in training or compound feeding for horses whose needs are not met through salt licks. When horses sweat, they lose a lot of salt. Salt helps to restore performance more quickly after exertion. Delivered in 8 kg bucket with dosing instructions.
Feed urea is an interesting source of nitrogen for ruminants, as the microbes in the rumen can transform urea into protein. By adding urea to feedstuff with low levels of rumen degradable protein, the ability of microbes to convert non-protein nitrogen to protein can be utilized. The urea fits very well with feedstuff with a high proportion of corn and/or whole crop silage where the protein content is low. Delivered in big bag (1000 kg) and small bag (25kg).
Sodium bicarbonate is used extensively in many applications. In agriculture, sodium bicarbonate helps stabilize rumen pH by reducing acid conditions. Delivered in big bag (1000 kg) and small bag (25 kg).
Shell grit of mussel shells is a pure natural product whose main ingredient is calcium carbonate. The dried and crushed shells are between 2 to 5 mm and can be used for chicken feed or as top dosage in compound feed. Delivered in big bag (1200 kg) and small bag (15 kg).
Successful harvests are dependent on striking the right balance between the addition and removal of plant nutrients. Our range includes sodium products for supplementary soil fertilisation, which contribute to an improved harvest.
Besal is our alternative to sodium fertilizer. It is cheap and contains a high proportion of sodium (38%). The recommendation is about 60-70 kg Na / ha, ie about 160 kg Besal. Besal should be spread before sowing since sugar beet has an early need for sodium. The spreading can be done by centrifugal or ramp spreader. Delivered in big bag (750 kg).
Urea is made of ammonia and carbon dioxide and is used, among other things, as fertilizer. It is white in color and is delivered in granules of 1-3 mm. Delivered in bulk, big bag (500-1000 kg) and small bag (15-25 kg).
Dust binding represents a smart, cost-effective investment for gravel roads. Calcium chloride and magnesium chloride, which are hygroscopic salts, absorb moisture from the air and form a saline solution which penetrates into the road surface, encasing the gravel particles within a film of moisture. As the saline solution has a higher surface tension and lower vapour pressure than water, the moisture remains in the road, even at high temperatures and during dry spells.

Absodan is based on the raw material moler, which is an environmentally friendly material with strong absorbent properties. Moler is a unique material that only occurs in northern Jutland in Denmark. More than 50 million year old deposits of fossil silica, clay and volcanic ash form a porous material that, through sophisticated pre-work, becomes a formidable absorbent granule with very strong absorbent capacity. Delivered in bags (10 and 20 kg).
This is a fine grain salt especially suited for dough making. Baking salt is extracted from ancient salt deposits in the bedrock and is subsequently purified. Delivered in small bag (25 kg).
High quality rock salt mined, crushed and sifted to the appropriate fraction. Delivered in bulk, big bag (1000 kg), small bag (10 kg and 25 kg) and bucket (12,5 kg).
Coarse sea salt is often used for fish, hay salting and de-icing, but also for the preparation of textiles. Delivered in big bag (1000 kg) and small bag (25 kg).
Vacuum salt with added nitrite is used to prevent the growth of microorganisms (Clostridium Botulinum) in meat products. It is a fine grain, highly refined salt with cubic crystals and a high degree of purity. Contains 0.6% sodium nitrite. Delivered in small bag (25 kg).
A coarse (0.8 - 3.2 mm) rock salt for use in e.g. water softening. Delivered in big bag (1000 kg) and small bag (25 kg).
